Portugal 7-0 North Korea – Perfect Victory for the Seleccao

Portugal slaughtered North Korea with a fantastic score, 7-0 ! For now, it was the highest score from a match in World Cup 2010.

What we saw on the field was a brilliant strategy from Queiroz. Clearly, the Portugal coach did his homework pretty well, and he managed to turn their weak performance  into a superb game !!

Since the beginning of the match, we could see that Portugal played with excellent coordination. Ronaldo played carefully, which is understandable since he already got one yellow card from previous match against Ivory Coast.

Their performance was  impressive, and for the first 20 minutes Korea showed equaly in skills. But soon after Mireiles made the first goal for Portugal, the Korean started to loose their consentration, and often made an error passes.

Portugal used the opportunity to keep pushing the opponent until the first half ended, but still with 1-0.

After the quick rest, Portugal seemed to boost their energy with brilliant moves. It didn’t take too long for them to pull out another goal, which came from Simao in minute 53rd. And just 3 minutes after, Hugo Almeida add their points, with 3-0.

Cristiano Ronaldo who played more relax after the second goal, showed his contribution on the fourth goal, as he gave a nice assist to Tiago in minute 60th. It was clever, as Tiago able to pouch a nice shot.

With 5 goals in hand, the Portugal team  seemed to be enjoying the match. With only 2 yellow card given from the referee, clearly they avoid too much physical contact. While the Korean played desperately without any hope to win the match, and it has effected their performance.

After full attacking, Liedson managed to score his first in minute 81st. Followed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal 6 minutes later. It was a goal that he has been waiting for 2 years. Smile were seen on his face through out the match.

Korean goalkeepers has lost his energy to fight back, as the game will end in less than 5 minutes. While he lack of consentration, Tiago succeded in his second time to break the Korean goal post. The game ended with 7-0 to Portugal’s victory.

What a night to remember for all Portugal fans, and for North Korea it was a night that they wished to forget.
